Operating Instructions
- Connect the charger's DC output cable to the battery charging receptacle of the product to be charged using the 3-pin XLR connector.
- Plug the power cord into the charger.
- Plug the power plug into the wall socket.
- The Power LED and Charging LED light on the charger should illuminate to indicate the charging status.
- When batteries are fully charged, the Charging LED will be steady GREEN. Unplug the charger from the wall, then the battery receptacle.
Charging Logic & Features
Three Stage Charge Cycle for SLA/AGM/Gel batteries:
- A high current, fast charge state: Battery charges at 2,000mA fast charge current rate until battery voltage of 29.2V is reached.
-
A topping charge state: battery charges at 29.2V constant voltage and
current begins to taper until current is less than 500mA. -
A precision float charge state: the charger changes to the float state and
holds the battery voltage at 27.4V.
System Protections
- Over Current Protection (DC 2.5A Max):
- Protects the charger from over-current demand.
- Over Voltage Protection (DC 31V Max):
- Protects the batteries from damage.
- Short Circuit Protection:
- Prevents damage caused when operating in short circuit condition for an indefinite period of time. The charger is "self-recovering" when the fault condition is removed.
- Reverse Polarity Protection:
- Protects the charger and batteries against incorrectly installed batteries (connected in reverse).
- Low Voltage Protection:
- When the battery voltage is below a preset value (under 14V), the charger will not engage or start charging.
Safety Standards & Certifications
- Safety Standards:
- UL / cUL: Tested and certified to meet stringent U.S. and Canadian electrical safety standards (UL 1012).
- CE: Meets European Union health, safety, and environmental protection requirements.
- GS: Certified to European safety standards.
- C-tick / SAA: Complies with Australian and New Zealand electromagnetic compatibility and safety requirements.
- ISO / RESNA: Meets ISO 7176-14, 7176-21, 7176-25, and RESNA WC-2 standards for wheelchair chargers.
- UPG are an ISO 9001 Certified Company
